BCFUMC HOLDS FIRST WELL-BEING DAY

Throughout the decades, our church has been ministering to hundreds of people in the community and mission areas through the provision of free medical access or MODEL-V. Shifting to a new paradigm, why not offer it to our own church members?
With this in mind, the Committee on Health and Welfare, headed by Mrs. Sheila Sanqui, organized the first free medical program in the church tagged as “Well-Being Day” and was held last August 25, 2008. Around 50 members and non-members of our church were given free medical, dental, laboratory and optical consultations. Some of other free services were blood sugar testing, eye check up, tooth extraction, and giving out of reading glasses and medicines. Blood donation was also a major component in the activity in partnership with the Philippine National Red Cross – Baguio Chapter.
A million thanks to the our health professionals, Dr. Jenny Dispo, Dr. Gloria Pacheco and Saint Louis Hospital Pediatric Department for the medical team; Dr. Anne Marie Balajadia and Rev. Pete Torio Jr. for the optical team; husband and wife tandem, Drs. Noel and Imelda Villanueva and UB dentistry students for the dental team; Philippine National Red Cross for the blood letting activity; our nurses and the UMYAF for the reception and legwork. May God bless you more in your advocacy in serving God through your profession.
Until next Well-Being Day…
BAGUIO UMM Shines
The men of the Baguio City First UMC, during to the NWPAC UMMF Midyear Rally, proved their mettle when they won two contest events: “Quartet Singing” and “Name That Hymn Contests”.
Wholly composed Baguio UMM, Bros. Alejandrino Valera, Jun Austria, Ben Andam and Rev. Jose Rapanut, represented the NEPD in the “Quartet Singing Contest” with the winning piece entitled “Church in the Valley”. In the “Name that Tune” contest, 15 out of the 23 hymns were answered by the Baguio UMM, making them this year’s champion.
Aside from sending half of the delegates to the Midyear Rally in Sevilla UMC, Ilocos Sur last October 17-18, 2008, our Baguio UMM held responsible positions in the District and Annual levels. “We, hope to inspire other men of the church. That despite our declining years, we’re still able to make a difference by sharing our rich life-walk experiences to our juniors…” Mr. Ben Andam shared.
